no sooner does the first 'residents association' series come to an end on cactus island than we launch straight into a new era of releases with this superb 3-track ep from nautilis - one of the finest purveyors of beat-trickery around. this work is darker and more dense than some of the earlier cactus releases and promises a slight change in direction for the label... not a bad thing at all if this is the quality of the work. choppy, hip hop orientated beats and some serious layers of sound and samples weaving throughout the mix. incredibly atmospheric stuff which'll have fans of labels like expanding, planet mu and artists such as maps and diagrams in a big old lather. wicked stuff. smallfish records
