at long last, the next in cactus island's limited edition cd series lands, and i've been eagerly anticipating this one! having provided a remix on remote_'s 'celestion' ep last year and following it up with the simply wonderful first release on smallfish's own 3" label, soundhacker now deliver this superb 4-track ep for cactus. anyone who's heard their previous work will know what to expect - crunchy, deep and atmospheric electronica of the highest order. complex rhythmic structures and exceptional programming guide you through the shimmering tracks that weave and flow with dark beauty. musically strong, the cuts ar specifically designed to play with your senses and the strength of production really shines through. just check 'phxone' for some serious sound manipulation and cleverly edited spoken vocals... dislocating and very, very fine indeed. the way it builds up from the break halfway through is beautiful and the seething sounds just rock. if you're a fan of electronic music at all, you'regoing to adore this gem of a release. one of the finest in the series so far? you betcha! highly recommended. smallfish records
